The MCi Tornado AspiratorThe MCi Tornado (a Kansas original) aspirator was designed for situations that do not require the sieving/sifting of grain. The MCi Tornado has outstanding cleaning abilities as an "aspiration only" grain cleaner. Ease of settings, variable grain feed control, low power consumption, and negative airflow make the MCI Tornado one of the best grain cleaners on the market today. "Negative airflow, what's that mean?" Negative airflow means the fan "sucks" on the cyclone/collector, bringing the unwanted material into the cyclone/collector. In other aspirators on the market using positive airflow (yes, just the opposite), the fan "blows" into the cyclone/collector, which takes the aspirated material through the fan first. This, in turn, causes most of the material to be ground up by the blades of the fan. "OK, so what does that have to do with the price of tea?" Think about it. This creates some very distinct disadvantages, because the KEY to effective cleaning with aspiration is not only getting the unwanted material out of the grain, but actually SEEING the material that is being removed from the grain, intact. "OK, so?" Remember, we said that when using an aspirator that has a positive airflow system, the fan blades will grind up the material? Well, guess what, many whole kernels that may be present will ALSO get ground up. "HEY!! It just looks like broken grain! Did you say WHOLE KERNELS?!!" That's right, when you look at the material being discharged from the cyclone/collector, you are not getting a true representation of the amount of whole grain being removed with the aspiration. You find out later when you measure your bins and realize that you don't have as much grain as you started with! That means money lost and grain wasted "Oh NO, all we wanted to do was to remove the unwanted material from the grain, NOT the grain itself!" Does anybody want increased shrink? Lost grain? "I DON'T THINK SO!! We can't do that or we're sunk!" Ok, that's not all. Another disadvantage to a positive airflow system, is that the fan will wear out prematurely "Well, of course, that makes sense!" We have proven that time and time again with the Newton grain cleaner. By utilizing this "original" technology, our fan will virtually last forever.
